The Brief
Candacraig are comprised of Sharon Cannings and Martin Nicholls. Originally actors, they have been composing dark, alternative music since 1992. When lockdown shut down their only source of income, they returned to the body of work they had been writing for the last 25 years, added new material, and reworked old songs to create their first album, “Thunder of Whispers“.
What I did
I won't sugar coat it, I have been good friends of Sharon and Martin for some time, having met them when I was performing in an ABBA tribute band. When travelling up and down the country every weekend, in a van, for many hours you naturally build a bond and friendships grow and you really get to know each other... especially when you're all changing in the smallest closet in the venue.
When Candacraig was launched Sharon and Martin knew they needed a website and so they came straight to me and I built them something rudimental in the first instance, and over time the website has grown, developed and is still managed directly by me.
The website is sometimes out of date, this is down to them not always remembering to share stuff with me, but I learn through socials and sometimes radio interviews they participate in.
I built their website using WordPress for ease of updating it, and implemented a basic online store using WooCommerce that links to their primary payment gateway, SumUp. I have also utilised the free plan of MailPoet that sits inside WordPress to allow Candacraig to send email newsletters to fans and keep them abreast of their activities.
