Moving your domain is easier than it sounds

Already have a domain name registered elsewhere? You can move it to me without losing it or changing your website.

Not sure where to start? Just get in touch and I'll walk you through it step by step, at no extra charge.

Moving to The Lone Developer

If your domain ends in .uk (like .co.uk or .org.uk), the process is quick and you just need to let your current provider know, and I'll handle the rest.

For all other domains (like .com or .net), your current provider will give you a short transfer code. You pass that to me, and I'll take it from there.

Moving away

I won't make it difficult for you, although I will take it personally, but I'll get over it, eventually.

If you ever need to move to another provider, I'll give you everything you need to do so with no fuss and no extra charges.

What exactly is a domain name?

It's your address on the internet. When someone types it into their browser, it takes them to your website. For example, yourbusiness.co.uk is a domain name. Without one, people have no way of finding you online.

Can I buy a domain without hosting?

Yes, you can register a domain through me without taking out a hosting package. Plenty of people do this to secure their name while they're still planning their website.

What if someone else has already registered the name I want?

Unfortunately, if a domain is already taken, it can't be transferred without the current owner's consent. I can help you find similar alternatives, often a different ending (.co.uk instead of .com, for example) works just as well.

Can I forward my domain to an existing website?

Yes, this is straightforward to set up. Just get in touch and I'll arrange it for you.

Are domains refundable?

Unfortunately not, once a domain is registered, renewed, or transferred, the transaction is complete. Please double-check the spelling of your chosen name before confirming, as mistakes can't be reversed.

How long does a domain registration last?

Most domains are registered on a one-year basis and then renewed annually. Some registries allow you to register for longer if you prefer.
